TUESDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF LENT B

Dear friends, your actions tell who you are.

Good morning, dear friends and welcome to Tuesday of the second week of Lent Year B.  May God’s abiding presence be with us this day and always, through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Dear friends, does your life reflect the sincerity of your faith?

“’Wash and make yourselves clean.  Remove your evil deeds from before my sight; put an end to your wickedness, and learn to do good.  Seek justice, reassure the oppressed, give the orphans their rights and plead for the widow’.  ‘Come now’, says the Lord, ‘let us reason together.  Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will become like wool.  If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land; but if you resist and rebel, the sword will eat you instead, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.’”

Isaiah 1:16-20

Dear friends, this passage is a call for a change of heart and behaviour, urging us to seek justice, correct oppression, defend the fatherless, and plead for the widow.  God desires authentic righteousness and offers forgiveness and restoration to those who turn away from wrongdoing and pursue justice and compassion.  Ultimately, Isaiah challenges us to examine the sincerity of our faith and the authenticity of our actions.  It reminds us that true worship involves not only rituals and ceremonies but also a life marked by justice, mercy, and righteousness.

Dear friends, your actions tell who you are.

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father,

Grant us a pure heart and a righteous mind.  Help us to shun evil and embrace justice, defending the vulnerable and seeking mercy.  May our lives reflect the sincerity of our worship, and may we find forgiveness and restoration in your boundless grace.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

The Lord be with you.
