SATURDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF LENT B

Good morning my dear friends and welcome to Saturday of the First Week of Lent Year B.  May the Good Lord bless the day for us: may He bless our going out and our coming in, through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Dear friends, what is your relationship with your God?

“You have today made this declaration about the Lord: that he will be your God, but only if you follow his ways, keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and listen to his voice.  And the Lord has today made this declaration about you: that you will be his very own people as he promised you, but only if you keep all of his commandments; then for praise and renown and honour he will set you high above all the nations he has made, and you will be a people consecrated to the Lord, as he promised.

Deuteronomy 26:17-19

This passage underscores the covenant between God and his people, emphasizing obedience and devotion.  It reflects the reciprocal relationship where God promises his people a special status, provided they adhere to his commandments.  The passage underscores the importance of recognizing God’s authority, expressing gratitude for his blessings, and committing to walk in his ways.  God desires a “Father and son, Father and daughter relationship with each one of us.  Are you disposed for that?

My late mother would say; “na the pikin wey call me mama na him I go call pikin”.  ‘The child who calls me mother, I will call my child.’

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, as we declare You as our God, grant us the strength to walk in obedience, to heed Your commands, and to listen to Your voice.  May our lives be a testament of gratitude, acknowledging Your sovereignty and embracing Your blessings.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

The Lord be with you.
