THURSDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF LENT B

Good morning my dear friends and welcome to Thursday of the first week of Lent Year B.  May the Good Lord see us through all our activities of today, through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Dear friends, the times are hard and difficult, more so, for the children of God.  However, should we abandon our faith because of hardship?

1 Peter 5:1

“Now I have something to tell your elders: I am an elder myself, and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and with you I have a share in the glory that is to be revealed.”
This statement acknowledges how suffering and glory are intertwined in the Christian belief system.  It recognizes that believers commonly face hardship and persecution while looking forward to future glory.  St. Peter, as an elder and witness to Christ’s sufferings, empathizes with the community’s challenges and looks forward to the ultimate redemption and revelation of glory.  He emphasizes the unity among believers and the promise of a divine inheritance for those who remain steadfast in faith.

Dear friends, note that “No matter how tough the jungle is; the Lion will never eat grass”

Let us pray

Lord, in the midst of Nigeria’s hardships, we seek your comfort and strength.  Bring healing to our land, uniting us in peace and resilience.  Grant wisdom to our leaders, compassion to our communities, and hope to those in despair.  May your light shine brightly, guiding us through these challenging times.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

The Lord be with you.ind
